PRACTICE EMPHASIS

Wright concentrates his practice on business, commercial, and securities litigation, both simple and complex. He has extensive trial experience in both state and federal court. Wright also counsels clients on a variety of business matters, including entity formation, transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and growth.

PRIMARY PRACTICE AREAS

  • BUSINESS LITIGATION Wright has extensive experience advising and representing business clients on a wide range of matters, including contracts, real property, construction, and alleged breaches of fiduciary duties. He successfully defended an individual in an action by a former employee alleging breach of a non-compete clause. He also successfully defended Shell Oil Company in a $26 million personal injury case in King County. Wright's focus in the business area includes:

    • Breach and enforcement of contracts including covenants not to compete
    • Uniform Commercial Code
    • Employment including wrongful termination and harassment
    • Consumer Protection Act
    • Construction including breach of contract and defects

  • COMMERCIAL LITIGATION Wright is also accomplished in the area of commercial litigation. Among other similar representations, Wright successfully defended an investment advisor against a $1 million claim alleging breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and violations of Washington's Securities Act. Wright's focus on commercial litigation includes:
    • Washington Securities Act
    • Regulatory Actions (representing brokers and investment advisors)
    • Commercial torts
    • Professional malpractice
  • SCHOOL LAW Wright has counseled and represented students and parents regarding school policies, disciplinary actions, athletic participation, boundary lines, student harassment, and teacher misconduct.
  • ELECTRONIC EVIDENCE Wright has a particular interest in advising businesses and law firms on the emerging law of electronic evidence. He has lectured and written on the subject as well. His experience includes:
    • Data and network security, data retention and recovery
    • Information technology policy, procedures, and related training
    • Investigations regarding computer and network abuse by employees
    • Adversarial electronic evidence raids
    • Document authenticity

EDUCATION

Wright earned his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in 1992, where he was an NCAA First Team All-American (wrestling) and graduated as the top Managerial Economics student. He earned his law degree in 1995 from the University of Washington School of Law, graduating Order of the Coif.

Wright lives in May Valley with his wife and five children. The Noels enjoy backpacking and tending to their mini-farm.
